Dr. Lawrence is an Associate Professor at the University of North Dakota. Dr. Lawrence earned his Ph.D. in history of religion, University of Chicago. His Dissertation was titled as "Argument and the Recognition of Ãiva: The Philosophical Theology of Utpaladeva and Abhinavagupta". He earned his Master's also from University of Chicago and his Bachelor's from the George Washington University. Dr. Lawrence's Fulbright-Nehru research is titled as "Translations and Studies of Monistic Saiva Philosophy". During his research in India as a Fulbright-Nehru fellow Dr. Lawrence will consult with colleagues and search for manuscripts to complete annotated translations and studies of two Sanskrit texts of the medieval Pratyabhijna School of monistic Saiva philosophy. He has already completed a draft and has a contract for the publication as a book of the long Commentary on the Recognition of the Lord by Abhinavagupta. |
